Job Experience Program – San Diego Zoo

September 13, 2017

IZE is excited to launch the Job Experience Program (JEP) in 2017 where IZE members can apply for a job experience at another IZE Institution.

Farrah Cheung, from Ocean Park, is the first participant in the IZE Job Experience Program. She is currently at San Diego Zoo and took time to share some thoughts with us!

“Knowing a place is always the first and most important step. The San Diego Zoo Global offered me a great opportunity to explore the zoo and the safari park before any programmes start. Not only travelling around, but also a behind the scene experience – Inside Look Tour: Elephant and Friends in the Zoo and Caravan Safari in the park. It was a wonderful experience to visit the elephant care centre and learn how they take care of old elephants. The Caravan Safari gave me unforgettable moments by feeding the giraffe, watching baby rhino and lots that hard to mention here.
The San Diego Zoo Global also allowed me to participate in the 3-Day Teacher Workshops in Conservation Science held by the Institute for Conservation Research. It was a chance for me and 30 other teachers and educators from the States, Kenya and Italy to understand more about their programme design with lots of hands-on activities. We spent our days not only on the modules, but also visiting the facilities and group project – Animal Behaviour Inquiry. Really got so much fun in these days.”
Thank you Farrah for sharing and enjoy your last few days!
