As a member of the International Zoo and Aquarium Association, you will be joining educators from across the globe dedicated to expanding the educational impact of wildlife conservation.   • opportunities for international networking and professional development;
  • subscriptions to the ‘Journal of the International Association of Zoo Educators,' which includes conference proceedings and papers, as well as an informal newsletter;
  • access to the latest information on educational techniques;
  • updates on geographical region activities;
  • special wildlife and cultural tours planned just for IZE conference participants;
  • opportunities for sponsored membership and limited financial aid for conference attendance.

If you would like to support the International Zoo Educators Association, we invite you to join. Anyone supporting the objectives of IZE is invited to become an Associate, Corporate or Library member. Professional educators working in a zoo, aquarium or other institution are invited to become Full members of IZE.

To better serve our members, we have adopted a sliding scale for membership fees based on categories developed by the World Bank. View the PDF to determine which category applies to you and your institution.

Full Membership

Full membership in the Association is open to any individual employed full time in the field of education and interpretation within zoos in a professional capacity. The same qualifications shall apply to Sponsored Members. Only full and officially sponsored members shall have a vote in the elections and other decisions requiring a membership vote. Only full members in good standing may be nominated for Board positions.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is open to any individual supporting the objectives of the Association, who is interested in, but who may not be directly employed in the capacity of zoo education. These individuals may include zoo directors, animal curators, biologists/conservation scientists, animal keepers, university faculty and graduate students, zoo volunteers, school teachers, and educators working in protected areas.

Institutional Membership

Institutional membership is open to zoos, aquariums, nature/wildlife centers and wildlife reserves. The annual fee includes full membership for up to four full time education staff members. The remainder of the membership fee collected (at least 50%) supports outreach to zoo and wildlife educators in the developing world.

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is open to any organization (including business corporations, clubs, societies, and other groups) that wants to cooperate with and support the objectives of the Association. All applicants for membership in this category must submit a letter of interest and other supporting materials describing the nature of their work to the President and Treasurer for approval prior to processing.

Library Membership

This category provides a subscription to the IZE journal only. No other membership benefits are available.
