María Martinez is a biologist and environmental educator, who has led education at the Guadalajara Zoo in Mexico for 20 years. During this time she has worked to develop educational programs that have led to an increase in zoo attendance. For more than 15 years, she has been developing professional training programs for Latin American zoo staff. She served on the IZE (International Zoo Educators Association) Board as the Latin American Regional Representative for 4 years, and is currently the Regional Journal Editor.
