Manager of Learning Experiences – K-12 School Programs, Outreach, and Distance Learning

Kimberly Hoormann currently serves as the Manager of Learning Experiences at the Saint Louis Zoo, where she has been employed since 2007. She has over 15 years of experience working for informal learning institutions, including: Sea World of Orlando, the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Kimberly has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s of Science in Biological Sciences. She is also a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.

The Saint Louis Zoo has recognized Kimberly as one of the 2014 Hermann Foundation Outstanding Employees. She manages the Zoo’s distance learning program, which is a three-time winner of the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration’s Pinnacle Award, Honorable Mention. She has also served in a consulting role to the WildCare Institute’s Center for Conservation in Punta San Juan, Peru regarding creating a distance learning lab there, focusing on Humboldt penguins. In addition to the distance learning program, Kimberly manages the Zoo’s outreach programs and all K-12 school programming. She was the project lead for the Zoo’s partnership with the Google Cultural Institute: Natural History launch in 2016, is the principle manager for the Zoo’s partnership with the St. Louis Symphony, and also serves on many committees within the Zoo.

Kimberly is excited to inspire passion for animals, conservation, and the natural world, including in her own two children.
