Environmental Education and Conservation Specialist Biologist from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, with a specialization in Conservation Biology (MacArthur Foundation, University of Illinois at Chicago, Field Museum, and Brookfield Zoo). The thesis focused on the Development of Environmental Education Centers in Latin American Zoos and Aquariums. Over 30 years of experience coordinating environmental education and conservation programs, and developing master plans for zoos, aquariums, interpretive centers, and natural areas. Head of the Education Department at Guadalajara Zoo for more than three decades, leading projects such as Huentitán Nature at Night, Masai-Mara Safari, Aquarium, and audience-specific programs. Creator of the Interactive Learning Center (CIA) concept — the first in Latin America to make interactivity a core component of environmental education in zoos. International speaker in over 15 countries and recipient of grants from institutions such as the MacArthur Foundation, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AZA, Zoo Conservation Outreach Group, and ALPZA. Has organized international conferences, including the IZE 2000 Congress of Zoo and Aquarium Educators and the World Zoo Veterinarians Congress, among others.
